If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will
be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove
to be my disciples. John 15:7–8
What are some strong desires currently in your heart? Answering this
question would reveal the deepest part of our heart, as it would identify what
we do truly love and where our focus has been set. Jesus uncovers God’s desire
in John 3:16. He tells us that our God so loved us, that He gave His only Son to
redeem us from our eternal death, showing His deepest desire.
The famous theologian R.C. Sproul once said, “What could make us more humble
than to be a recipient of such grace?” Yes indeed, knowing His grace creates in
our heart true joy and a desire to be attached to Jesus, as a vine branch is attached
to its tree (John 15:1).
Living daily life in grace attached to Jesus transforms our desires and prayers,
empowers us to be a faithful disciple of Jesus, and ultimately glorifies our God.
Let’s start (and finish) our day with abiding in Jesus. Remember to: “Rejoice
always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will
of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
Lord, help us to set our eyes upon Jesus and be a good steward of the gospel
to extend Your unlimited grace to all nations, tribes, peoples, and languages.
