I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from
every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the
Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their
hands. Revelation 7:9 NIV
One hundred fifty years might seem a long time for people who are new to
Grace. People from different cultures and backgrounds, who are welcomed and
loved here, will share in this historical event. God’s sovereign grace orchestrates
the blending of peoples from all generations, cultures, and nations.
The theme of bringing people of all nations together is a traditional ending to
the Grace Family Christmas concert. Last year, in the final moments, the scene
of Revelation 7:9 unfolded. Mary and Joseph raised the Christ child while the
choir sang in the background. At that very moment, the three wise men and a
huge group of people from different cultures with their ethnic dresses, fell to their
knees and worshiped Him.
I serve in English as a Second Language class at our church, and I have invited
many friends from different backgrounds. They may not believe in Jesus as their
Savior (yet), but gladly accepted the offer to participate in that concert. As we
knelt down together, I felt the Holy Spirit assuring that one day all hearts will bow
to Him. It was an electrifying moment for the church. When I opened my eyes I
saw a friend, a seeker turned believer, his eyes filled with love and gratitude.
A glimpse of eternity was etched in our minds while celebrating our history.
Dear Lord, let the people from every nation, tribe, and language experience
Your love and grace, and help us to be Your hands and feet in our community
and beyond.
