For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but
one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15
Prodigal means outrageous behavior. The story of the prodigal son is more
about the outrageous love of the Father, as opposed to the outrageous sins of
the son. As I look at my life, even as a Christian, I have walked the road of the
        prodigal son.
No, I didn’t end up broke and eating slop with pigs in a distant land. But my focus
at times has been for my own desires and not my Father’s desires, just like the
prodigal son. When we come to our senses, remember we do not have a Father
or High Priest who is waiting to lay into us, tell us that we are now unworthy, and
        reject us.
On the contrary, we have a Father and a High Priest who understands and
sympathizes with our weaknesses, our failure, and our brokenness, and still
loves us and holds us close. Because of Hebrews 4:15, we can live out Hebrews
4:16: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may
receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Thank You God for loving us when we are unlovable. Thank You for under-
standing life is hard. Thank You for holding us close.
                                                       – John Wieland
