P. 36

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever…The LORD is
my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory
resound in the tents of the righteous: “The LORD’s right hand has done mighty
        things!” Psalm 118:1, 14–15 NIV
Marker moments—we all have them. Memories so deeply imprinted in our
mind’s eye, we’ll never forget them or their impact on life’s journey so far.
Remember the first time you learned to ride a bike?
(I crashed into a neighbor’s mailbox, landing in a corn field!)
            Or write your own name?
(It was exciting to try cursive!)
Moments like learning to play an instrument,
(Poor parents—that saxophone sounded like a dying cow!)
The first time you drove a car all by yourself?
(Hands gripping the steering wheel, not 1mph over the limit!)
Your first day at your first job?
(So scared to do or say the wrong thing.)
I remember vividly as a young child when first learning about Jesus. Drawn to
the stories, I wanted to know more. Although I didn’t even begin to understand
everything (and I still do not), the LORD gave me the grace to understand
enough – that He really is the One, True, Living God and there is none like Him!
Marker moment after marker moment, He is faithful…
            to love us without conditions
to forgive us when we ask
to guide us as we follow
to bring joy in the midst of trials
to comfort and strengthen along life’s way.

Lord God, we praise You for every remembrance of Your faithfulness. We praise
You for 150 years of faithfulness to Grace Presbyterian. May this anniversary
season be a marker moment in the life of our church.
