P. 42
Your faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 119:90 NIV
Our family’s four generations at Grace have found God to be faithful. Many
times, prayer has had a huge place in our family.
Coughing! Coughing! Her little seven-year-old body wracking with a deep,
throaty, cough. She couldn’t sleep, nor could I. “Lord,” I prayed, “What should I
do? Call her mom in the middle of the night?” I had no medicine, and we were in
a camper at a campground.
The voice of the Spirit whispered, “Go lie with her, prop up her head, sing hymns,
pray over her, and rub her back.” So, I did exactly that! For twenty minutes or
so, I rubbed our little granddaughter’s back, sang, and prayed over her until she
slept…soundly…all night…not coughing once!
What a testimony and praise of answered prayer to me, to her, and to her parents
the next day. We all rejoiced in what God had done in totally stopping the coughing.
A small answer but it fulfills my regular prayer for our 14 grandchildren from
Deuteronomy 4:9 which says, “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely
so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from
your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children
after them.”
Lord, may each of us watch, not forget, teach, and tell what God does in our
lives—big or small. The next generation is watching!
