One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your
mighty acts. Psalm 145:4
It all began with a sweet neighbor named Emily, given to hospitality and
chauffeuring. My young mother did not drive, and my dad worked second shift.
Emily took my mother, my sister, and me to Grace many times.
And the legacy of Grace began.
My parents joined Grace and became very involved, especially with children’s
ministries. Youth activities were my favorites, including Pioneer Girls, Sunday
school, Christian Endeavor, memorization, Bible drills, Vacation Bible School,
and individual classes where I learned about living the Bible.
And the legacy of Grace continued.
I cannot recall any of the circumstances regarding accepting Jesus, but I just know
it happened. Counselors during high school helped with reassuring verses, but I
don’t remember anything regarding a specific date. During my younger years,
I discovered Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet
not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the
faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” (KJV). I made
that verse a part of my life.
It has been many years, and the legacy of Grace goes on and on and on.
Lord Jesus, we give You praise, honor, and thanks, for the legacy of grace which
thrives at Grace Presbyterian. Thank You for a church that teaches about the
grace and mercy of God available to all.
