But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Amazing grace…oh, how sweet the sound! I feel blessed to have been born
into a Christian family and have fond memories of Sunday school and church,
Vacation Bible School, youth activities, and family devotionals. I knew “about”
Jesus, but when I was 11, I accepted Him as my personal Savior. I have always felt
God’s presence: He is my friend! “He walks with me and talks with me and calls
me His own.”
Challenges and disappointments in my life, including my parents’ divorce when I
was four, my mother’s widowhood when I was nine, and my own divorce when
I was 61, have taught me we will all have personal and private suffering. However,
that is when our noblest dreams are born and God’s greatest gifts are given,
through grace, to compensate us for our trials.
One of the greatest gifts God has given me is my husband, Don Allen, an elder
and longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church. I believe our church is aptly
named, as I feel God’s grace—freely given, unmerited favor and love of God—
from everyone I meet there. We are connected by God’s grace! Because “He
Lives”, “All Is Well” and happy with my soul!
Heavenly Father, we thank You for 150 years of growth and pray that our
celebration will instill continued growth and souls won for Christ.
