Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!
1 Chronicles 16:34
This verse is one of my favorites. Perhaps this verse is best appreciated by
looking at its phrases in reverse order:
“For his steadfast love endures forever.” Our Creator loves us—what a precious,
awesome thought! In fact, the Creator loves us so much that He died for our sake
so we could escape hell, inherit heaven, and have a personal relationship with
Him. And what’s more, this astounding love is forever, so we can rejoice that it is
an unconditional love. What conclusion can we make? “He is good!”
What should be our response? “Oh give thanks to the Lord!”

Life can be tough sometimes, and we may even question God’s goodness. If that
happens to any of us, we should remember the display of God’s love for us at the
cross and the fact that “His love endures forever.”
The words of this wonderful verse are found in the Bible 10 additional times.
This exclamation of God’s goodness was a common refrain of the Israelites when
they thanked God for His acts of goodness on their behalf. Like the Israelites, our
church has reason to voice that same spirit of thanksgiving. This verse applies
well to both the individual and the church as a whole. May it bless you as it has
blessed me.

Lord, as we meditate upon Your love for us, may we see more clearly that You
are good, and then give You the thanks that You so richly deserve.
