defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with
gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15

Have you ever been in a spiritual conversation and not known how to respond?
Do you feel like if you don’t have the perfect answer you can’t say anything?
In a world that doesn’t acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior, it’s hard to have
an opinion that’s unpopular. When we’re having a spiritual conversation with a
neighbor or coworker, there are times we may try to “win” the conversation with
spiritual truth. God’s Word does not need to be compensated by our clever or
forceful argument.

God’s way is different. It’s not to shut down or fight back, but to faithfully and
respectfully share who Jesus is and why He is the hope of eternal life. The way we
live our lives and the way we speak to others is a reflection of Christ in us.
We are not called to win the debate, but we are called to be faithful to share with
gentleness and respect.

Father, help us be a church who is faithful to share by Your power and not
our ability.
