I thank my God in all my remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3

This was my mother’s favorite verse. Her wise application of it taught me great
lessons about thankfulness. As a result, I think with gratitude about the many
faces of Grace—the people who by intention or example have shown me God’s
character and impacted my relationship with Him.
These are but a few examples. When I was in high school, my parents divorced.
One family, sensing our sorrow, regularly invited my mother, sister, and me out
to their lake house to rest and relax. Their compassion and kindness live with
me still. As a young adult my Sunday school teachers challenged me to make
a commitment to a Bible study that would help me develop consistency and
intimacy in my walk with God. Later, another woman’s example led me to change
my thinking about prayer. It was a simple thing, really. I noticed that when
she prayed aloud she would address God personally as “Father dear” instead
of formally, “Dear Father.” God used that switch to somehow lead me to more
freedom and closeness in my prayer life.
There are always more stories to tell. It is a joy to know that God is at work
        through the people of Grace.

Father dear, thank You for using the people of Grace to impact my life, and
please help all of us to be sensitive to Your leading and intentional about
        encouraging others.
                                                      – Nancy Kinnick
