P. 92
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One
generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty
acts. Psalm 145:3–4
Who would have known when I attended the high school Christian Endeavor
youth group here at Grace in the 1960s, that an intriguing “domino effect” would
take place? I felt so blessed to have the opportunity to be taught about God and
how to grow in my faith in Christ. What I didn’t know at the time was how God
would use one particular couple to minister to me, and then allow me the privilege
of experiencing Him working through several generations in our families.
As newlyweds, my husband, Terry, and I taught this couple’s children the truths
in God’s Word in children’s church. Several years later, when those children
became adults, they in turn reached out to our children by mentoring and leading
a small group Bible study. This cycle continued when one of our daughters
“commended God’s works and His abundant goodness” to their children in the
children’s ministry. Then just recently, one of those grown children ministered to
our preschool grandchildren, now to the sixth generation, during the Tuesday
morning Bible studies.
Father, we are so grateful for the gospel, for Your faithfulness throughout the
years, and for Your transforming grace in our lives. May we all continue to let
You use us to pass on this glorious message to the next generations!
