P. 91

I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother
Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this
reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the
laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love
and self-control….I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able
to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. Follow the pattern of the
sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ
Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to
            you. 2 Timothy 1:5–7, 12–14

“Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.
May the fire of our devotion light their way.
May the footprints that we leave lead them to believe.
And the lives we live inspire them to obey.
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.”

When we first heard this song, “Find Us Faithful” by Steve Green, we were
struck with the privilege and responsibility that we have to be faithful to the Lord
in our service at Grace. Our parents and grandparents worshipped here. Now,
our children and grandchildren are part of this church family. The footprints
that have been left for us have given us the opportunity to see the faithfulness
of others, firmly rooted in and resting in the faithfulness of God, our Father. We
have seen the witness of people, who by God’s grace have walked faithfully with
the Lord, serving Him even when they were weak or struggling.
Lord, we thank You for this great heritage of 150 years, passed on to us. May
we guard the good deposit entrusted to us. Help us to be faithful to You as we
honor Your faithfulness to all generations.
                                                          – Mark Maston
