In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.
        Isaiah 30:15 NIV
Just like the ancient Israelites jumped on their horses and galloped away
to try to solve their problems in their own way, as recorded in the verses that
follow verse 15, I too have been guilty of working in my own strength, rather
than waiting on the Lord. But we need to keep reading. Just three verses later
Isaiah tells us, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you
compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!”
God’s character never changes. He is not dependent on our good judgment or
even our obedience to work His will. He was faithful to His people 3,000 years
ago just as He was since time began. He is faithful to us today, as He always will
be. God is not grudgingly gracious. He longs to be gracious.
We can make mistakes, jump ahead of the Lord, or even rebel; yet He remains
faithful, graciously leading us, providing for us, and healing us. We just need to
        be still and follow Him.
Father, thank You that You are always trustworthy. Help us to wait only on You.
                                                        – Ruth Duffer
