Foundations of the Bible

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” ~ Matthew 7:24

What: This 12-week class will cover the entire Bible and will equip participants with knowledge and application of themes, books, people, events, and verses. The goal will be to become firmly established in an understanding of the Bible so that we will grow in love for God, His Word, His people, and all other people in our midst. In the spring, we will offer a companion to this class called “Foundations in Theology.”

How: Each lesson will survey a section of the Bible (moving consecutively from Genesis to Revelation), discuss a major theme that runs through the entire Bible (Jesus, covenant, promise and fulfillment, etc.), equip participants in the practical application of Bible reading and studying (including leading family devotions), and practice memorizing key Bible verses (10 Commandments, Lord’s Prayer, Great Commandment, Great Commission, etc.).

Who: We encourage all Grace adults and teens, men and women, to take this class once during the next three years (we will offer it every year). To make it easy to do so, we will offer two options with identical material (you would come either on Sunday or Wednesday). Beginning in 2026, this class will be a prerequisite for future officers of Grace.

When & Where: Identical classes will be offered Sunday evenings beginning August 25, and Wednesday evenings beginning August 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. Location TBD.

Wednesday evening classes will be offered as part of MidWeek Grace with concurrent children's programming. There will be no children's programming for the Sunday evening classes.

Sundays: August 25 - November 17 (no classes 10/13 because of GIC)
Wednesdays: August 28 - November 20 (no classes 10/30 because of Getty concert)
