.1st and 2nd grade is a great time to give children a taste of "Adult Worship."
In 1st and 2nd Grade Children's Church, children start in the sanctuary, enabling them to worship together with their families. They will become familiar with the pastors and what it's like in the "big church."
Because these children do tend to get antsy, they will have the opportunity to leave the Worship Service at a designated time to attend their own class so they can continue to worship at their own developmental level. They will have a special lesson that includes a Bible story and fun activities.
Children may also stay with you during the service, if you prefer. This program is designed as an alternative.
This is how it will work: You will need to pick up your child after Sunday School and take them to the Third (11:00) Worship Service with you. From there, they will be dismissed from the service to meet with the teachers, who will be waiting for them in the Narthex. They will then be escorted to their class, which meets on the lower level in room B-27.
Children will have a great time as they worship God through songs, crafts, stories, and games.
Mission Week: Once a month, the children have "mission week," where a special emphasis is placed on learning more about what missionaries do. Also, each week, your child will have a chance to put some money into a special offering, which is used to help support our class missionaries, the Inmans.
Puppet Shows: Periodically, your child will travel to another room to watch a puppet show put on by Grace's Puppet Team. Signs are posted whenever the children will not be in their normal room.
Pick-up Procedure: When the worship service is over, children need to be picked up in their room. The children will not be dismissed independently and must be picked up by someone 7th grade or older. In addition, only those on the "authorized list" may pick up your child. Please see the department coordinator for more information on how to add or subtract names from this list or if you have any other questions. These rules are in place to keep your child safe.
